The minimalism is an architectural style caracterized for the extreme simplicity in the forms, born in New York at the end of the sixties. The origins of this tendency are in Europe and you find them... in the manifest titled “Less is more” from de german architect Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, one of the most important of the century. Because of the second world war Van Der Rohe emigrated to EE.UU. At the end of the 30s, Van Der Rohe was de director of the Bauhus School of Art and Design in Germany where his first ideas about purity in forms were materialized and the artistic concept used for giving personality to the industrial design. The basic rules for minimalism are: using pure colors, to give importance to the totality more than the parts, using geometrical and simple forms maded with mechanical precision, work with industrial materials in the most neutral way and design over inmaculate areas. The result that define this style is the concept of the word “cleaning”.The minimlism gives great importance to the space and ecological materials. It center the attention in pure and simple forms. Other aspect that define this tendency is the absolut monochromy in floors, cielings and walls. The accessories are at the end the ones that give color to the space.In a minimalist statement, white color stand out with all the shades that you find in it. Never forget that white has a big range of shades. The elements. One of the changes produced by the minimalism in decoration was to use elements like polished concrete, glass and steel rods. Those colors. About accessorize the minimalism doesn't use print fabrics on sofas or cushions. All are pure colors, that proyects a sensation more contemporary in contrast of barroco style in the XIX century. Unity sense. For the minimalism all the elements must combine and form a unity. With time the minimalism borned at the end of the 60s got the maturity in the 80s making influence not only in arquitecture and design but also in paint, fashion and music. |
